Cocktails – tasting notes and final list
The cocktails for the Banquet were:
Gernsbackian Dream - a copacetic martini style drink, the cat’s pyjamas
Southern Nights Julep– Mint, champagne and fruit, iced to perfection, a julep that reaches the stars – divinely good
Moon Landing Cocktail– gin, vermouth and orange - elegant, with an aroma of oranges and lemons
Stardust Cobbler- Pineapple, sherry, strawberries and just a touch of port – not too sweet, not too dry, but far too tempting
Rocket Juice– fresh and delicious and … sh, don’t tell anyone …. non-alcoholic
The cocktails for the Speakeasy were:

The cocktail that couldn’t be done (but which con-goers were given the recipe for, to make up, because it was totally adorable) was Vampire Dreams. I’ll make sure you get that recipe too, with the others, tomorrow.

I’m afraid to ask why Vampire Dreams couldn’t be done at the convention. They all so delish!

We weren’t given a reason for it not being able to be done. I do recommend it, though.
The original recipe was less to modern taste, being less sweet - we cheated madly in using a sugary ginger syrup instead of a medicinal one. Let me admit, it’s just as well that it was struck off the list, because that sweet syrup was not authentic!! (the testers swear by its flavour and it’s the perfect drink for the 21st February on a non-leap year)
